Background:
Born in Kailua, O’ahu and graduated from King Kekaulike High School here on Maui, Rebecca, or Becca, started her career in fitness with outdoor group training in 2006 while interning at Aragua, Mormaii’s Sports and Cultural Center in Brazil. In 2007, she began personal training in a large gym atmosphere in the heart of downtown Seattle before graduating from the University of Washington. Since then she has expanded her knowledge and experience in the health and fitness field as a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Instructor.
Throughout her career of training a variety populations, from kids to seniors up to 93 years old, she’s realized that mind and body wellness is for a lifetime and not just for the younger adult years and the youth. She believes that the potential to be intensely active, take part in your passions and feel great throughout all stages of your life is possible if you practice proper body mechanics, avoid building strength and power on top of current or re-occurring injuries and, most importantly, you maintain a positive mind-set.
These realizations have directed and inspired her studies, knowledge, practical experience and training background in areas such as weight loss, strength & endurance performance, injury prevention, corrective exercise, core strength, flexibility & nutritional counseling. Her fascination with the potential of the mind and body fuels her to constantly expand her knowledge in the wellness field allowing her to evolve not only in her own activities both in and outside of the studio but also better her ability to help her clients. Becca not only brings her effusive high-energy and smile to the studio, but she is a dedicated partner to those who want to achieve their wellness goals. Maile has been involved in athletics, in one form or another, her entire life. Early on she competed in cross country, track and soccer. After college her passion for fitness continued and she became a certified Spinning® Instructor with Madd Dogg Athletics. Maile has been teaching indoor cycling for since 2011. Her classes are focused and challenging with goals appropriate for both the beginner and elite athlete to help them achieve their personal health and fitness goals.
Jen first started taking spinning classes when she was pregnant with her second child in 1999. She took to spinning because she quickly realized how it could be adjusted to fit anyone, at any fitness level. Often people see spinners coming out of class dripping with sweat and think “I can’t do that! It looks too hard!”, but of course, they can! Jen started teaching spin classes in 2007 in a format know as a cadence class, where the beat of the music controls the pace of the class. Jen’s upbeat and unique playlists help make her spin classes fun and motivational, as she mixes up older tunes with new hits. She really enjoys the smaller, more intimate environment at Om Maui as she gets the chance to know everyone’s names and backgrounds.
Jen has been working out since she was 14 years old, and considers staying in shape a top priority. Being in her 40’s and having 3 children does present challenges, but she is committed to staying healthy for the sake of herself and her family. Besides being a “gym rat” (as her husband calls her), Jen also enjoys bike riding outdoors, stand up paddling and surfing, and hiking with her 3 dogs.
Jodi began leading group exercise classes in college at the University of San Francisco in 1991. It was during this time that she began running marathons and participating in triathlon. Since then, there have been countless hours of swimming, biking and running. In 2005, she set her sights on the Ironman distance completing 9 Ironman races including 2 world championships in Kona.
Through all of the experience, the importance of proper alignment, activating the proper muscles, interval efforts and recovery in order to build a strong body are key elements in her teaching. In spin, we ride the bike like you would outside. In class and training, we activate and strengthen muscles you need in daily life.
Jodi loves motivating and encouraging others to get stronger, push through barriers to find their inner strength and joy in life. We all have an athlete inside and she wants to bring that out in everyone!
